The ‘Mix’ Method (STRONGEST – Recommended for Foot Traffic) This is the strongest method of application, ideal for areas receiving walking traffic. Steps: Mix EASIHOLD together with your stones in a mixing bucket. Each 5L EASIHOLD mixes 6 x 25kg bags of stone, or approximately 1 part EASIHOLD to 25 parts stones by volume (Jug/Bucket Fulls). Coverage: 1L mixes between 35-50 kg of stone. Mix EASIHOLD with your stones until they are evenly coated. You can mix using a mixing paddle, or simply by shaking and rotating the stones using a gauging trowel until fully coated throughout. Pour out the EASIHOLD mix onto a permeable base. A permeable base is important to allow rainwater to drain through. The overall depth of EASIHOLD treated stones should be 20mm. Compact the stones using a trowel or by standing on wooden planks. A flat surface will be a lot more robust than one with protruding stones when subjected to foot traffic. A compact, flat, and smooth surface is important – protruding stones can dislodge and create weak points. Allow 72 hours to dry in warm and dry conditions. Any form of precipitation – rain, dew, frost, etc, will dilute and reduce the efficacy of EASIHOLD significantly. 2. The ‘Pour On’ Method (COVERS 6-8M²) EASIHOLD can be poured from a watering can. Ensure you use a watering can with a steady flow that is dispersing the EASIHOLD liquid evenly across the stones. This method is relatively straightforward, requiring no specialist equipment, and ensures good penetration into the stones. We recommend using two applications of Easihold when applying by the Pour On method for the strongest finish. 3. The ‘Spray On’ Method (COVERS 12-14M²) For ideal results, depth 20-25mm and aggregate size 3-18mm (dried is best). Spray Application Steps: Spray easihold on the aggregate and ensure even coverage Use a rake to expose the uncoated aggregate Spray a second time Compact the surface down EASIHOLD can be spray applied using a standard airless sprayer. Spraying EASIHOLD limits penetration into the base layer of the stones. Great for achieving a larger coverage but this method won’t provide as robust a surface finish. We would recommend this application method for decorative use only. We recommend using two applications of Easihold when applying by the Spray On method for the strongest finish. Requirements for Effective Use of EASIHOLD Weather Conditions Temperature: Minimum 5°C – No Maximum. EASIHOLD will not dry at low temperatures, and will eventually become diluted by frost, causing it to not dry and bind your stones correctly. Humidity & Dew Point: Avoid risk of dilution, such as rain, dew, and humidity. High humidity (90% ), rain, dew and frost will all dilute EASIHOLD during the drying phase, and the stones will not bond. Requires 48-72 hours of warm, dry conditions. Try to apply within a 2-day period of dry weather for best results. Base Requirements For Light Foot Traffic: Needs to be a Permeable, Compacted Stone Base. EASIHOLD is water-based to protect the environment. Therefore, if EASIHOLD treated stones become submerged in water for more than 24 hours, they will de-bond. For Decorative Use: Can be any Permeable Surface Stone Shape & Size Rounded Stones: 4-6mm Angular Stones: 4-20mm General Range: 3-22mm maximum Exceeding size guide means less contact points and reduced strength. Fine aggregates cannot be successfully bonded. Dried material is advantageous. Rock Depth All uses: 20mm. EASIHOLD can only bond down to 20mm. So deeper layers will not be bonded at the bottom. Surface Preparation The aggregate/area should be free of leaves, dirt etc. If you have paving/plants near the area to be sprayed, it would be best to use the mixing method. Coverage & Application Guidelines It’s important with EASIHOLD to not use too much (over-saturate) or too little (uncoated stones). Try to follow these guidelines as closely as possible. Best Applications of EASIHOLD ✓ Decorative aggregate beds where stones are being scattered by dogs and children etc. ✓ Can be used for bark or rubber mulch ✓ Decorative features around patios ✓ Where aggregate stability is required in an outdoor area ✓ Light pedestrian traffic areas ✓ Securing loose stones on driveways and pathways For Decorative Use: It’s possible to leave a profiled surface if the stones are not to receive any foot traffic.
