Description Indication: Amoxicillin and Clavulanic Acid is indicated for the short-term treatment of bacterial infections such as: Upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., tonsillitis, sinusitis, otitis media) Lower respiratory tract infections (e.g., acute and chronic bronchitis, lobar and bronchopneumonia) Genito-urinary tract infections (e.g., cystitis, urethritis, pyelonephritis) Skin and soft tissue infections Bone and joint infections (e.g., osteomyelitis) Dosage: The dosage varies based on the form (tablets, suspension, injections) and the patient’s age. For the Powder for Suspension: Neonates: 0.25 ml/kg 3 times daily 1 month–1 year: 0.25 ml/kg 3 times daily, dose doubled in severe infection 1–6 years: 5 ml 3 times daily or 0.25 ml/kg 3 times daily, dose doubled in severe infection 6–12 years: 10 ml 3 times daily, dose doubled in severe infection Side Effects: Common side effects may include gastrointestinal symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Precautions: Do not use if allergic to Amoxicillin, Clavulanic acid, Penicillin, or Cephalosporin. Caution is advised in patients with liver or kidney problems. It may reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives. If taken with allopurinol (used for gout), there may be an increased chance of an allergic skin reaction. If taken with probenecid (used for gout), the dose of Fleming may need adjustment.
