Description Indication Asomex is used to treat: High blood pressure (hypertension) Chronic stable angina (chest pain) Vasospastic angina (Prinzmetal’s or variant angina) Coronary artery disease in patients without heart failure or reduced ejection fraction Dosage Adults: The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily. The dose may be increased to a maximum of 10 mg once daily if needed. Pediatric patients (6 years and older): The starting dose is 2.5 mg to 5 mg once daily. Doses above 5 mg/day have not been studied. Elderly patients: Start at the low end of the dosing range (2.5 mg/day) and adjust as needed. Side Effects Common side effects may include: Dizziness Swelling of legs or ankles Irregular heartbeat Muscle stiffness Fatigue Stomach pain or nausea Serious side effects (rare) may include: Allergic reactions (hives, difficulty breathing, swelling of face, lips, tongue, or throat) Worsening chest pain or heart attack Precautions Inform your doctor if you have liver disease or congestive heart failure. Avoid alcohol as it can lower your blood pressure further and increase side effects. Be cautious when standing up quickly to avoid dizziness. Do not use this medication to treat sudden chest pain.
