$65.88
This exquisite vintage Japanese Matcha bowl (chawan) – Kyo-yaki features a striking hand-painted design of a samurai helmet (kabuto), a symbol of strength and protection traditionally associated with May and Children’s Day in Japan. Next to the kabuto, graceful purple Japanese irises (花菖蒲 Hana shōbu) are beautifully depicted, extending both on the exterior and the interior of the bowl. Gold embellishments highlight various details, including the rim, adding a touch of elegance and depth to the artwork. The underside bears the seal of the artist 陶盛 (Tōsei), confirming its authenticity and craftsmanship. The bowl is in excellent condition, though it comes without its original box. A meaningful piece for collectors, tea practitioners, or anyone who appreciates the artistry and symbolism of Japanese pottery.
