Description Empagliflozin is an oral SGLT2 inhibitor (Sodium-Glucose Co-Transporter-2 inhibitor) that helps reduce blood sugar by: Preventing glucose reabsorption in the kidneys Increasing glucose excretion through urine 2. Uses Empagliflozin is prescribed for: Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus: To improve glycemic control Heart Failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF): Reduces hospitalization risk and cardiovascular death Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD): Slows progression and reduces cardiovascular complications Note: Not typically used for Type 1 diabetes or diabetic ketoacidosis. 3.
